Dear Rex,

We spent our summer vacation in the very beautiful, tranquil Royal Belle Vista Resort in Chiang Mai, Thailand this year. Our flight included a stop over in Bangkok. Fortunately, we disregarded the travel advisory against Thailand because of red shirt demonstrators and proceeded to have our vacation in Chiang Mai.

Belle Villa is a haven for exotic flora and fauna. Our senses were greatly enhanced by the floral scents surrounding our villa and also the "tukko" sound of the geckos. We saw  lots of fruit bearing trees like Lychees, Longan,Tamarind, Mango, Papaya and Banana all around the resort. The place is nature’s gift to mankind.

We visited many interesting places like the Doi Inthanon National Park, which is home to the highest peak in Chiangmai, with spectacular gardens and a refreshing climate. We also visited Bhuping Palace, the winter vacation palace of Thai royalty, Doi Suthep Temple and three magnificent waterfalls: Wachirathan, Sirithan and Mae Wang. We did an excursion to villages of the White Karen and Hmong tribes, we rode elephants and a bamboo raft along the river, during which we saw giant bamboo, pagodas and exotic gardens.

We enjoyed browsing the Sunday market, the local market and also the night market. Everything was a new experience for us, even the food was spicily unique. Many thanks to Ms. Nook, who assisted us and enlightened us with interesting information about Thai culture and the Thai way of life in Chiang Mai. Looking forward to our next vacation with Royal.

Howdy Ya'll,

Just a quick note to let you know how very much our 5-person party enjoyed our 12 days at The Royal Reef Resort on Gili Meno, Lombok, Indonesia. We were there from 19 April until 1 May and truly treasured every minute of that time!  The weather was exceptional and the island as charming as during our previous three visits.

The water was a marvelous 82F and air ranged from 78 to 88F. We made eight scuba dives with Blue Coral Divers from Sengiggi, Lombok, and they did a great job. The visibility was 40-60 feet on each dive and the hard and soft corals, fish, turtles, etc, were wonderful.

The island continues to be a haven for peace and serenity and Royal Reef is a jewel of quiet relaxation! The 6 bungalows are outstanding examples of the Robinson Crusoe approach to Holiday, with ceiling fan and mosquito nets, no hot water but only 20 steps to the ocean!   :o)

We ate all of our meals at Ya Ya’s warung, which provided great food at unbeatable prices, and was only 50 yards from Royal Reef. Mount Rinjani, the third highest volcano in Indonesia, was active and a new cone was being created during our stay. We could sit at meals and watch the ash plume rising 8,000 feet above the 13,000 foot Rinjani. Truly a spectacular image!

We intend to return to Gili every year from now on, simply to enjoy the tremendous diving, amazing weather, relaxing atmosphere and excellent service provided by the resort manager, Rusli, and his wife and family! They truly care about the guests that they receive, and there is nothing that they will not try to do to insure you of a satisfied stay. They have even gone so far as to take my son to the doctor on Lombok during a previous visit.

Hopefully Royal Bali will see the value of having this small ‘basic’ resort in their inventory and do nothing to change the quality of laid back living that it provides!!!

Thank you so very much for providing this caliber of easy going Holiday to the Royal Bali Family!!

Hello Royal Resorts

I am writing this email to tell you that we had an absolute wonderful time in Bali. I have to give you a little background why it was so important to go Bali.  Since June 2008 my husband has become very ill (no need to go into details, but things are not particularly bright).  He was born in Indonesia (Batavia - now Jakarta) and has retained a deep love for Indonesia and its people.  Many times we have travelled through Java, Sumatra, Lombok, Komodo and Flores, but Bali was always a destination of utter pleasure.  Our son (and family) had never been to Indonesia and he desperately wanted to see Indonesia together with his father.   Given the state of my husband's health, Bali was the only option. So I set to work, clearing the visit with his doctors.  Early April I contacted Royal Resorts and was put into the capable hands of  Bayu Konstantius.  Despite the short notice he managed to obtain an imperial unit at the Royal Bali Beach Club in Jimbaran plus a one-bedroom villa at Karma Jimbaran (bonus week). He then rang us a few times to ensure that everything was OK.  We all had a roof over our head (and what a roof!).

My son and family were over the moon with the Karma unit.  The private pool was such a boon for their three lively kids (12 year old twin boys and a 14 year girl).  Our unit at the RCB was beautiful and comfortable. Some of the staff recognised us from previous visits and that is always such a nice welcome. The friendliness of all the staff is one of the reasons why we have such a fondness for the RBC at Jimbaran and Buitan.

While we were in Jimbaran, I mentioned that my son and family were returning to Australia a few days after us and that they had not made a hotel booking as yet.  They were unsure what part of the island to explore.  The suggestion of Candidasa was made and in no time, sales management (Alfie, Gary and Diego) had arranged a few nights at the RCB Buitan at half my points.  By the way, they loved the resort and area and had  a fishing adventure with some newly made friends. I think they have been sold on Bali.

While in Bali we upgraded our membership to Royal Gold and continue to look forward to many happy times. Alfie took us to the new Karma Kandara, an amazing place.  My granddaughter Alex thought it a perfect place, particularly the pool. Here is a photo of her in front of the pool.

P.S. Since we became a member we have utilised the timeshare in Goa, Paris, Spain, Kenya, Thailand, Silver Sands WAa, Terranora NSW, Cedar Lake NSW, Pacific Palms NSW and many times in Bali (Jimbaran, Buitan and Medewi).  So the motto is "use it while you got it".

Kind regards

Hello Everyone,

Just to let you know that we have recently returned (December 2009) from the Royal Goan Beach Club, Haathi Mahal. This was our eighth visit and we had a fabulous time; we totally enjoyed ourselves once again.
All the peole at Haathi Mahal go out of their way to help, they are all very friendly, but also professional. The restaurant food was lovely, the special nights superb, the Splash bar and Jamaican Inn were great, from lunchtime food to evening drinks, everything was covered.

Thank you all for a very happy stay and we hope to see you all in December 2010.
